Vision:
Within the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme and FFG benefit, a large variety of innovative ICT-based products and services have been designed in recent years to increase the quality of life of the elderly. However, a structured categorization and comparability, due to inadequate classification models, often times prove to be very difficult.
It is the aim of the project TAALXONOMY to design a practical taxonomy for effective classification of AAL products and services. Taking into account international definitions (WHO, OECD, etc.), initiatives (BRAID, EIP - AHA, MYBL, JPND, etc.) and standards (NACE, ISO 9999, etc.), relevant aspects, categories and indicators are derived.
In combination with a structured analysis of strength and weaknesses of existing schemes, a novel classification system is generated. The active integration of relevant stakeholders, users and experts as well as a validation phase, should ultimately result in a practical classification grid, which is complemented by recommendations for further actions and innovative dissemination measures.
Project Objectives:
The main objective of the TAALXONOMY project is to providing a comprehensive and above all practical taxonomy for effective classification of AAL products and services.
The starting point is an extensive exploration and derivation of aspects, categories and indicators in the AAL domain, based on a systematic analysis of technologies and application areas, existing classification schemes and standards, as well as quality of life aspects which are positively influenced by AAL solutions. From a population of AAL products, services and solutions that are collected in the course of the project, a selection is made and classified with existing models in order to analyze these in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. This approach will allow defining specific requirements for a new taxonomy.
The active integration of relevant stakeholders, users and experts as well as a validation phase, should ultimately result in a practical classification grid, which is complemented by recommendations for further actions and innovative dissemination measures.
